About Us
The Honorable Isobel Cooper-Heyman founded the Pargiter Trust in 2005 to support older people. Isobel was a Trustee of The National Benevolent Fund for The Aged (NBFA) for a number of years and was a passionate campaigner, ensuring older people have the support they need to maintain independence and live healthy, happy lives.
She founded the Pargiter trust to continue her work alleviating social isolation and stress wherever possible for older people living in England and the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Pargiter comes from Isobel’s maiden name, the only daughter of Baron George Albert Pargiter, CBE and Dorothy Maude. Since Isobel’s death in 2009 her cousin, Suzanne Gardiner, has taken up role as Chair.
The Trust is sole shareholder of Sarnia Properties Ltd, a company registered in Guernsey, which remits a sum of money annually to the charity. The shareholding in Sarnia Properties Ltd and other investments act as expendable endowment to fund the work of the Trust.
On 8th July 2014 the Trust established a new registered Charitable Incorporated Organization (CIO) as a separate charity bearing the same name.
During recent years we have also been delighted to fund a variety of exciting and different projects a many different organisations, all with a common interest in helping older people, some of these are:
This year we have also forge links with the University of Surrey and Whiteley Foundation for Age Well.
The Trust’s mission
The Pargiter Trust is focused on supporting disadvantaged older people to be
independent, healthy and socially included, this is delivered by working closely with Community Foundations and other Charities, to support grassroots projects whose objects are compatible with our own.
